About Drunk Bitches

About Drunk Bitches Who Picasso:
(click the link above to join our facebook group page)

DBWP started out as just a simple night on my front porch.  A handful of my girlfriends came over to paint and drink some wine.
And so it begins.

We had been talking about going out to one of those other groups who do the same thing, only felt it to be to expensive. So I went out and bought a ton of Canvas and some paint. Invited the bitches over to enjoy each others company. And thus DBWP was born. (left)  And yes, I am that person who leaves my partially working Christmas lights up until April!!

Since this first evening we've had quite a few events together.  I can honestly say that each event that I've been able to attend myself has been a highlight of my 2011.  Unfortunately, due to work & illness, I've not been able to attend every single event.  Which has bummed me out severely each time.

A few that have really stuck out in my mind would be the Strawberry Social evening.  (below)   We had a ton of Strawberry themed dishes as well as some ever so wonderful fried chicken.  I will say that I was rather pleased with myself that evening.  I managed to make my first ever Strawberry Pie! Which I would have gladly eaten the whole thing.
Yummy Yummy in my TUMMY!

Party People
I have a very love hate relationship with food.

We also then watched To Wong Foo: Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar.  Duh has been able to set up a screen that fits into our garage door so that we can play movies in the backyard.  We decided to watch this wonderful movie about  drag queens, featuring Patrick Swayze, stuck in the middle of no where because of the Strawberry Social event in the movie.

Tie Dye Sunday
The next event that stands out for me would be the Tie Dye Sunday event we hosted at The Mouse Trap. (left)  It was an extremely hot day! I can remember vividly the buckets of sweat that poured off of all of  us that day.

So many people got involved with this event.  It was so much fun to see all of the tie dyed creations come to life.  I have to give a big thanks to everybody that chipped in for this event. Especially the bar.  It was the perfect place to host.

I'm really hoping that we can do it again in 2012.

The FEAST

Last but not least, The Bitches Holiday Dinner.

I have to give another BIG thanks to Alice.  She opened up her beautiful home to DBWP and provided a FEAST for all of us to enjoy.  She and her husband James went to great lengths to make us feel warm and welcome.

Not only did we eat until our stomachs hurt, we had many tasty beverages. Including a very tasty Puerto Rican beverage, Coquito, that was provided by a friend of theirs.  Which was very much like a coconut eggnog.  But BETTER!

Playing a Twisted Apples to Apples

We also had a very interesting twist of Apples to Apples.  We here at DBWP like the rude and fowl from time to time.  This particular game was both.  We all laughed until our sides hurt and tears were coming out of our eyes.  Some of you bitches (myself included) are very twisted in the head!!

Gift Exchange

At the end of the evening we had a White Elephant gift exchange.  I must say that my dear friends friends Kay & Ashley were the only ones to actually MAKE their gifts.  Which was part of the rule.  We also said we could re-gift items.  But their gifts were totally bitchin'!

These are just a few of the events that have stuck out.  There have been more. I'm looking forward to 2012. I plan on writing a 2012 To Do List blog at the beginning of the year. Including our 1st Birthday Bash!!  So stay tuned.

Yours Truly

As I stated in my first blog I'm getting back to the whole who I am portion.

I'm not really great with the whole "About Me" section on social networking profiles.  I always feel like I'm in some kind of contest competing for the "most popular bitch" title.  Lets face it. I'm not. Do I know lots of people? Yes. Do I have lots of bitches? YES! Am I the funniest person I know? Well, there are times when I think I'm down right fucking hysterical! People around me may not think so.  But, honestly, who cares what they think!!

So, about me, I'm 28. I'm a Virgo, (I at times do believe I'm a princess).  I'm married to a wickedly smart computer genius, who I lovingly refer to as "Duh".  I am an Event Coordinator by trade.  I'm currently employed with a rather large Catering Company in Indianapolis.  And right now I'm super busy with the upcoming Super Bowl festivities.

I love being crafty. At times I do feel like an old woman.  Just this evening I was covered with yarn bitching about my bones hurting due to the cold.   I love all forms of arts and crafts.  And I love seeing what other people create during our group events.  I also love the fact that we're all willing to share our knowledge and tools to create something very kick ass.

I don't currently have any children.  However, I love kids!!  And kids are welcome to DBWP events on occasion.   Many of the members have kids and it isn't always easy to find a babysitter.  Which is why in the new year I want to include play dates and do more kid friendly crafts. Believe me I understand the need however to just get away from your children, (or husbands for that matter).

Enough about me. I'm starting to feel a bit narcissistic.

It's About Damn Time!!

It IS about damn time, right?  I've been meaning to get a blog rolling now for a while now.  With some of our dear bitches over seas or planning on leaving us and moving on to new states, or continents, I figure this a great way to keep you informed of our shenanigans.

I figure I'll keep this first blog as simple as I can.  Most of you reading know what we stand for and what it is that we do. For those who are still new to the group, or have been a little apprehensive about attending one of events I hope to shed a little more light on what I'm wanting to get out of DBWP.

Now I understand that not everyone likes being called a "Bitch".  Please keep in mind, you ARE my bitches!  And it's a term of endearment coming from yours truly, (I'll get to "yours truly" soon enough for those of you who don't know me).

I started this group because my dear bitches wanted to get together and be crafty.  What started out as a simple get together to paint and drink wine on my front porch, has now turned into something bigger than I really expected it to.  And I only hope to get bigger and do something good with this.

I must also state that, yes, we call our selves "Drunk Bitches."  Yes we like to drink.  And sometimes, yes, we do get a little carried away.  But we by no means turn into vomiting freshman at a frat party.  And we do NOT encourage it.  If you are not a drinker we don't hold you down and force delicious wine down your throat. If you are offended by other drinkers, and being referred to as a "bitch" then this is not the group for you. I must also state that if you're not 21, sorry about your luck.

About us:  Well, we like to get a little crafty.  We like to enjoy a tasty adult beverage. We try to have our meetings once a month, if timing allows.  We ask that everybody contribute to the supplies.  When we do pick our craft we let everybody know what it is that we need. Then, if you wish to attend you bring a supply item.  This way it keeps your pockets happy.  We also encourage the BYOB or bring a snack.

**SIDE NOTE**
This was started out as a girls group!! As much as I would like to keep it that way, we do have spouses that like to be included from time to time. And we do have our honorary Ninja Body Guard that has been very attentive to our needs.  So I am going to keep this a girl group! With a few events that spouses are allowed.  I know my Duh (aka my husband) likes to hang around from time to time.  And I've heard that there are other spouses who'd like to see what it is that we do. As much as I'd like to keep it a secret girls club, I have to show pity. I understand that the men folk are just plain jealous of our craftiness!!!

There isn't a set place where we get together.  We do ask that members host an event if you have the space.  I'm pretty nuts about getting RSVP's.  Being an event coordinator/caterer, it is a must for me to know.  However I do understand that shit comes up and you can't make it all the time.  Watch out for the Facebook Event invites and follow along with what the group talks about and you'll be golden. (Like the shower!)

We've had a lot of fun this year. I'm amazed at how much we've been able to come together and become friends.  I hope to get some REAL good out of this group for 2012, (watch out for the 2012 blog! I've got ideas bitches!!)

I'm even more amazed at the response and feed back I've gotten from many of you.  There is so much love amongst us all. That is the most important part of this group.  We come together with no judgements. We support each other.  And I only ask that you continue to do as you've been doing and continue to be as honest as you can.

I love you muh bitches!!!  I can't wait to spend more time with you!
